Shaken, Not Stirred: Starbucks Managers Bring Cool Connection to The Neighborhood Village
On a sunny afternoon at The Neighborhood Village, the familiar clink of ice and the soothing swirl of tea marked more than just refreshment—it marked connection, community, and kindness in action.
Local Starbucks Managers across Tulare County came together in the most generous of ways: by organizing a hands-on tea shaking and making class for our neighbors! Each neighbor was invited to step behind the bar (so to speak) and walk through the official Starbucks process of creating their very own iced tea—customized to their taste, just the way they like it.
This wasn’t just a fun activity on a hot day (though it absolutely was that too!). It was an experience—one many of our neighbors had never had. It was a moment to be seen, to engage, to learn something new, and to sip something special.
Starbucks has consistently gone above and beyond for our community, donating not only coffee but time, care, and heart. This tea-making class is just one more example of their ongoing generosity and commitment to making a difference. Their team brought joy, encouragement, and a sense of inclusion that our neighbors will carry with them far beyond this event.
At Salt + Light, one of our guiding pillars for our neighbors’ path to healing is Community Engagement. We believe that shared experiences create the foundation for belonging and healing. This event gave our neighbors a chance to connect not just with our visitors, but with each other—growing in confidence, building social skills, and laughing together over ice-cold teas on a three-digit-degree day.
Thank you, Starbucks, for turning a simple drink into a powerful moment of community. We’re so grateful for your partnership—and for the fun, flavor, and friendship you’ve brought to The Neighborhood Village.
