Maria Alvarez
CalAIM Specialist
Maria, Salt + Light’s CalAIM Specialist, brings both professionalism and heart to her role, drawing from her roots in Hanford, CA, and a background in public health and medical billing. With a strong foundation as a Medical Biller II for the County of Kings Public Health Department, Maria has developed a keen eye for detail, a deep understanding of healthcare systems, and a steady commitment to serving others. Her role as a CalAIM Specialist allows her to combine her technical skills with her passion for helping neighbors experiencing homelessness navigate pathways to stability, housing, and health.
Outside of her work, Maria treasures time with her daughter, who is the light of her life. Whether it's a spontaneous trip to the mountains, a relaxing spa day, or an adventure filled with laughter and good food shared with close friends, Maria finds joy in experiences that recharge the soul. Her balanced approach to life—grounded in both care and connection—is reflected in the way she engages with her team and the neighbors she serves.
Maria was drawn to Salt + Light by the mission itself. “What I admire most is the dedication,” she shares. “This work brings real hope to people—it’s inspiring to be part of something that changes lives.” Her authenticity, resilience, and unwavering sense of purpose make her a vital part of the Salt + Light family, and she continues to help move the mission forward with grace, empathy, and strength.
